Dear Friends,
We are excited to share with you that our family has accepted a position serving with Mission Aviation Repair Center (MARC) in Soldotna, Alaska. It has been 5 years since the Lord first led us on this journey toward missionary aviation. We are thankful for the opportunities God provided for us to receive the training and experience needed to serve in Alaska. Throughout this journey, we have intentionally prayed for the Lord to lead us to the people and organization we would serve. The Lord kept leading us to MARC and we are so excited to share with you about the ministry and what our family will be doing while serving there. We could not have made it this far without each of you who have prayed and supported our family throughout this journey and for that, we are so blessed.
Why Alaska?
When we visited MARC in January of 2020 we went for a missions practicum requirement and left absolutely loving the organization. From that point, we worked diligently to complete the required training to serve with MARC. During our candidacy in April, we were able to experience the ministry, connect with the staff families, & explore the surrounding area. The Lord confirmed he had definitely been preparing us to serve with MARC full-time as a pilot/mechanic family.
Did You Know?
82% of Alaskan Communities do not have road access.
1/3 of communities in Alaska do not have a church or pastor.
Many of these isolated communities suffer from high rates of substance abuse, sexual abuse, and teen suicide.
MARC provides transportation for over 40 ministries in bush Alaska and offers training and quality airplane maintenance for mission organizations at a greatly reduced cost through our own staff of missionary families who raise ministry staff support to serve with MARC.
Our Time-Line
Currently, we are packing our home in preparation for our upcoming move. June 11-17 we will be at Lost Timber Bible Camp volunteering for the middle school summer camp. June 18 - July 17 we will be in Florida with the ability to travel to AL, GA, MS, & LA. We will be loading a moving truck in August to start the long drive from Worthington, MN to Soldotna, AK.
If your church, small group, or anyone else you know may be interested in hearing about God's work in Alaska, please contact us. - Thanks!
Join our team
There are several ways you can partner with us in this ministry, the most important being through prayer. We are seeking no less than 100 prayer partners, as we know that prayer will be the most vital part of our ministry.
Also, we would like to ask that you pray about joining us financially. We have 2 financial needs:
Monthly Support: MARC asks that we raise $7,500 in monthly ministry support. This is pre-tax and will cover our administrative expenses, furloughs, insurance, along with daily living expenses which are approximately 30 to 40% higher than the lower 48 states. We are currently at 85% of the required monthly support.
Outgoing Support: We are estimating approximately $25,000 for our outgoing expenses. This includes our deputation travel this June and July, the rental of a Uhaul for moving, fuel expenses for the move, rental deposit for housing, and heavier Arctic gear. If you feel led to partner with us, please send all gifts to Missionary Aviation Repair Center, 595 Funny River Road, Soldotna, AK 99669. (Make sure HNK47 is in the memo line or included in a note) You can also give online at: https://www.marcalaska.org/hancock-family
